The MQ-2 Gas Sensor Module is widely used for detecting gas leaks in both residential and industrial environments. It is capable of sensing a variety of gases, including hydrogen (H₂), LPG, methane (CH₄), carbon monoxide (CO), alcohol, smoke, and propane. Thanks to its high sensitivity and quick response time, the module provides rapid and reliable detection.
The sensor features an adjustable sensitivity level, which can be tuned using the onboard potentiometer to suit different applications and environments.
This module operates on a 5V power supply, making it easy to integrate with Arduino and other microcontroller-based systems. It provides two types of outputs:
Analog Output (A0): Delivers a continuous voltage (0V to 5V) proportional to the gas concentration
Digital Output (D0): Provides a HIGH (5V) or LOW (0V) signal based on a preset threshold level
Applications
Home safety and gas leakage detection
Industrial safety systems
Air quality monitoring and control
Gas level measurement
Gas leakage alarm systems
IoT-based safety and monitoring projects
Quick Start Guide
Wiring Instructions:
Connect VCC to Arduino 5V
Connect GND to Arduino GND
Connect A0 to Arduino analog pin (A0) for analog readings
(Optional) Connect D0 to a digital pin (e.g., D2) for threshold-based detection
Usage Notes:
Allow the sensor to preheat for a few minutes before taking readings to ensure accuracy
Adjust the potentiometer to set the desired sensitivity level
